This guide highlights the top 40 pet insurance keywords in the United States.
Methodology
To compile this list we used SEMrush data for monthly search volume and cost per click. Keywords are ranked by keyword value, which is search volume multiplied by CPC. Branded pet insurance terms are excluded.

What the list shows
Demand is concentrated at the top. “Pet insurance” carries 201,000 searches, five times the next term, at a difficulty of 100. Nothing below rank three exceeds 15,000.
The expensive terms are not the high-volume ones. “Pet insurance quotes” carries the highest CPC in the set at $23.84 on only 2,900 searches, while “how much is pet insurance” pulls 12,100 searches at $4.72. Purchase intent, not traffic, sets the price.
Two informational terms rank in the top 30 by volume. “Is pet insurance worth it” at 12,100 and “how much is pet insurance” at 12,100 both outrank most commercial terms while costing a quarter as much per click.
State-modified terms are unusually easy. Texas and Florida both sit at difficulty 33 and California at 42, against 76 to 100 for the national head terms, at CPCs above $16.
Near-duplicates inflate the list. Cheapest, inexpensive, best pet insurance dog and best pet insurance dogs are the same searches counted twice. Volume figures here are as reported rather than clustered.
Method notes and limits
Volume and CPC are point-in-time figures from December 2024. Search volume in this category moves substantially across a year, so treat single-month figures as directional rather than exact.
Keyword difficulty is a third-party estimate, not a Google metric.
This list records demand. It does not record what the results page returns for each search, which in 2026 decides whether ranking produces a visit at all. Our current insurance keyword dataset adds AI Overview and Local Pack presence to each keyword, and a pet insurance edition will follow.
