This page was rebuilt in August 2026. It previously listed keyword volumes captured in 2024. It now reports live monthly measurement of the same market: who ranks, who Google cites in its AI answers, and what those searches actually return. The method is published in full on our methodology page.
Colorado runs close to the national picture on car insurance and slightly above it on business insurance. An AI Overview appeared on 78.9% of the 19 car insurance searches tracked here, citing an average of 7.0 sources, and on 83.3% of the 24 business insurance searches.
Who Google cites: car insurance
Among insurers, Liberty Mutual leads Colorado.
| # | Carrier | Share of carrier citations | Citations |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Liberty Mutual | 25.0% | 8 |
| 2 | Progressive | 18.8% | 6 |
| 3 | Allstate | 15.6% | 5 |
| 4 | GEICO | 12.5% | 4 |
| 5 | Mercury Insurance | 9.4% | 3 |
| 6 | State Farm | 6.2% | 2 |
| 7 | Farmers | 3.1% | 1 |
| 8 | Lemonade | 3.1% | 1 |
That is not the same brand that leads the organic results, which is the pattern we find in most geographies.
| # | Brand or site | Type | Visibility index |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Allstate | carrier | 100.0 |
| 2 | Progressive | carrier | 77.4 |
| 3 | GEICO | carrier | 45.8 |
| 4 | NerdWallet | aggregator | 45.0 |
| 5 | AAA | carrier | 36.0 |
| 6 | forum | 35.9 | |
| 7 | Liberty Mutual | carrier | 34.3 |
| 8 | US News | publisher | 31.7 |
Allstate holds the strongest organic position in Colorado and sits fourth in citations. Liberty Mutual is the reverse. Ranking well and being used as a source are different accomplishments.
What Google actually cites
Insurers supply about a third of the sources behind Colorado car insurance answers.
| Source type | Share of citations |
|---|---|
| Carrier | 30.5% |
| Aggregator | 24.8% |
| Publisher | 22.9% |
| Forum | 16.2% |
| Law Firm | 3.8% |
| Unknown | 1.9% |
Personal injury law firms supply 3.8% of them, largely on questions about minimum coverage requirements.
Business insurance is a different market
| # | Carrier | Share of carrier citations | Citations |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Hartford | 43.1% | 22 |
| 2 | NEXT Insurance | 15.7% | 8 |
| 3 | GEICO | 7.8% | 4 |
| 4 | Travelers | 5.9% | 3 |
| 5 | Allstate | 3.9% | 2 |
| 6 | Hiscox | 3.9% | 2 |
The Hartford dominates Colorado business insurance citations at 43.1%, more than double the next carrier. Nothing in the car insurance data is that concentrated.
Which searches return an answer
| Search intent | Returned an AI Overview |
|---|---|
| informational | 100.0% |
| comparison | 100.0% |
| cost | 100.0% |
| quote | 100.0% |
| head | 0.0% |
| near me | 0.0% |
The pattern holds here as it does nationally: coverage and pricing questions almost always return a written answer, and near-me searches almost never do. On those, Google shows a map instead.
Method
19 car insurance and 24 business insurance searches, geo-targeted to Colorado, captured August 2026. Organic visibility is position-weighted and indexed to the state leader. Citation share counts the sources Google credits beneath its AI answers, with insurers counted separately from comparison sites and publishers.
August 2026 is a single capture. Three-capture medians with a published spread begin in September.
